On April 29, 2021, the Baltimore Ravens picked WR Rashod Bateman with the No. 27 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Not two weeks later, the first-round receiver signed his deal with the Charm City franchise.

This is quite a quick signing, as some contract negotiations typically go back and forth. There’s no issue to it, as these contracts need to be worked on thoroughly both from the franchise’s and players’ side. Clearly the Ravens and Bateman’s team worked hard on this following the draft because fewer than two weeks after hearing his name called, he’s officially a Baltimore Raven.
According to @MySportsUpdate on Twitter, the Ravens signed Bateman to a four-year deal worth $12.6 million, with $6.53 million as a signing bonus. Of course, with Bateman being a first-round pick, there is a fifth-year team option.

This can only mean good things for the team as they no longer have to hammer out details on the deal, or deal with the drama of a possible hold out. Rather, they’ll now have him under contract and Bateman gets paid. In all, this is excellent news and a bit striking to see how quickly things worked out. Sure seems like Bateman’s wanted to be a Raven sooner, rather than later.
