The offensive line is going to be one of the most crucial position groups the Ravens will need to address this offseason. With possible changes coming at center, guard, and tackle, Baltimore will most likely need to find offensive linemen in free agency and the draft. With so many different positions possibly being open, one of the most important aspects of each prospect’s game will be versatility.
USC’s Alijah Vera-Tucker might have every other lineman beat in that category.
The reason I say that is because Vera-Tucker played left guard and left tackle at USC, and he dominated at both. If you’re worried about him playing on the same side as likely 2021 Ravens starters Ronnie Stanley and Bradley Bozeman, don’t be. Look no further than Orlando Brown Jr., who played great at left tackle after switching from the right mid-season, or Bozeman who was drafted as a center, but has played at guard since he’s been a starter in Baltimore.
Talented players can find success at any position and there is no doubt that Vera-Tucker is one of the most talented players in this draft.
Here are some examples: (He’s #75)

This is one of the things you see a lot when you’re watching Vera-Tucker’s tape: he’s sticky. Once he latches onto a defender, it’s basically impossible for them to get off of him. He’s got vice-grip hands that just add to his phenomenal strength. His process on this play is perfect. Vera-Tucker identifies his linebacker instantly, latches onto him, and then pushes him a mile away from the play. The best offensive linemen are the ones that are able to eliminate a defender from a play and that’s exactly what he does on almost every snap.

This play is an outstanding example of Vera-Tucker’s vision. He neutralizes his defender on the line, then continues with his momentum to delay two more linebackers from getting to the running back. This is exactly the kind of player the Ravens need. Vera-Tucker’s value lies in his ability to move with the play and eliminate defenders at every level. In an offense like Baltimore’s, with a QB like Lamar Jackson, that skill set would prove even more valuable.
Another clean performance from #USC OT Alijah Vera-Tucker (LT #75) yesterday vs. Arizona. Hard to believe that it’s only his second career game playing tackle.

In a zone based blocking scheme, he could be an ideal fit at either guard or tackle. pic.twitter.com/RIFqgagCB8
Vera-Tucker continues to display his skill set when he plays tackle. As soon as the defenders get to him, they can’t get around him. He’s got the good footwork required for the position, as well.
Alijah Vera-Tucker would be a great pick for the Ravens, no matter who they pick up in free agency. He can play guard or tackle and if the Ravens finish free agency with center as their only need, they can move Bozeman there and replace him with Vera-Tucker. At Pick No. 27, Vera-Tucker has a good chance of being available. If he is, he’s going to be one of the most talented guys left on the board.
