We have made it past the unofficial quarter mark of the 2021 regular season. Week 4 saw seven underdogs win outright and nine underdogs cover the spread. 11 of 16 games went under on the total point projection.
It was a good week of predicting for our staff, who all went at least 10-6 with their picks. So too did you, the readers. Let’s get into the Week 5 action below!
Updated standings:
- Spencer 44-20
- Dustin 41-23
- Kyle, Jake, Jonas 40-24
- BB readers, Frank 39-25
- Vasilis, Josh 38-26
Consensus picks —
- Vikings > Lions (MIN -7.5)
- Packers > Bengals (GB -3.5)
- Buccaneers > Dolphins (TB -9.5)
- Panthers > Eagles (CAR -3.5)
- Patriots > Texans (NE -8.5)
- Titans > Jaguars (TEN -4.5)
- Raiders > Bears (LVR -5.5)
- Cowboys > Giants (DAL -6.5)
- Chargers > Browns (LAC -2.5)
- Cardinals > 49ers (AZ -5.5)
- Ravens > Colts (BAL -6.5)
Another week where the number of unanimous predictions hits double digits. Not too many surprises here, frankly.
However, it is notable that all of our writers are picking the Chargers over the Browns in matchup of two 3-1 foes in the AFC. Los Angeles is favored by 2.5 points at home. Another showdown between 3-1 teams is the Packers vs. Bengals, where everyone is riding with Aaron Rodgers and company as a 3.5-point favorite on the road.
Also, nobody sees the Cardinals losing their first game of the season on the road against the 49ers. Arizona is a 5.5-point favorite after dismantling the Rams in Week 4. The 49ers have lost two straight games but the NFC West can be dicey.
Lone wolf picks —
- Spencer likes the Seahawks over the Rams on Thursday night (SEA +2.5)
- Kyle is alone is taking the Jets to beat the Falcons in London (NYJ +3.5)
- Vasilis is picking Washington to defeat the Saints as a home underdog (WFT +2.5)
