Ravens hire Rob Ryan as inside linebackers coach

NFL: Washington Redskins at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have hired Rob Ryan to be their inside linebackers coach, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.

This is the second coaching hire that the Ravens have made today; Anthony Weaver was hired as the new defensive line coach/run game coordinator.

Rob Ryan is, of course, the brother of Rex Ryan. Rex Ryan was the Ravens’ defensive coordinator from 2005-2008.

As for Rob Ryan, this will be his first stint with the Ravens. Ryan has had eight different NFL coaching jobs, since 1994. Most notably, he was the linebackers coach for the New England Patriots for their Super Bowl XXXVI and XXXVIII victories in 2002 and 2004. His most recent job was as the inside linebackers coach for the Washington Football Team in 2019.

Ryan will coach a young group of inside linebackers with a lot of potential that includes Patrick Queen, Malik Harrison, and Chris Board.
