Today, the Ravens made DeShon Elliott and Chuck Clark available for the media. After a wild weekend resulting in the Ravens severing ties with All-Pro safety Earl Thomas III, the Ravens solidified their decision by letting the young safety, Elliott, discuss his new role as the starting safety paired with Clark. The Ravens cut Thomas on Sunday with a short statement, that read:
We have terminated S Earl Thomas’ contract for personal conduct that has adversely affected the Baltimore Ravens.
It seems the relationship between the player and organization was toxic, which makes Elliott’s statements during today’s presser all the more refreshing. Especially when he arrived in a graphic t-shirt adorned with the work “unity.”
When asked about his relationship with Clark, Elliott praised him for his guidance.
"We came in behind two great pros in @_tonyjefferson and @weddlesbeard. I learned how to grow and navigate that from @ChuckC36." @OfficialShon_4 pic.twitter.com/awSXd6UZ5l

“Chuck was there to help me and guide me along,” Elliott said. “Any struggles I had mentally with the playbook or — I wasn’t used to sitting behind anybody. He was already here and experiencing it and I was asking him, ‘how’s it work?’ I kind of just learned how to grow from him and sitting back and watching his success and watching how hard he worked.”
Elliott finished his answer saying Clark is his teammate and will always be beside him.
“Honestly, Chuck’s my dog. I ride for Chuck. Win or lose, I’ll always rock for Chuck.”
