After breaking down the starting left tackle yesterday, we find ourselves transitioning to the man at right tackle. Day 78: Orlando Brown Jr.
How Brown Became a Raven
Originally, Brown was expected to go in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft, with some experts even mocking him to the Ravens. That fell through after a pitiful combine performance plummeted his draft stock.
It wasn’t until midway through the third round when the Ravens picked “Zeus Jr.” with pick No. 83.
Career as a Raven
Only two years into the NFL, Brown has developed into a mighty right tackle who, paired beside the great Marshal Yanda, bulldozed the right side of the field for the best rushing attack in NFL history. Zeus Jr. has played in all 32 games and started in 26 of them.
Contract info
Two years into a four-year rookie deal totaling $3.6 million.
Outlook for 2020
I worry 2020 will be rough on Brown Jr. Not because he’s bad or he’s already peaked. I believe he’ll struggle due to Marshal Yanda’s absence. Losing Yanda is huge and while I don’t doubt Brown will play solid football, it’s going to be more difficult in 2020 and beyond.
