The Baltimore Ravens have waived wide receiver Sean Modster. The transaction was announced via the team's official Twitter account:
We have waived WR Sean Modster.— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) May 12, 2020
Modster was added to the roster last summer as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State. He had a slow start to his collegiate career with only 11 receptions across his first two seasons, but he was able to break out his senior year with 68 receptions for 978 yards and eight touchdowns. Modster stood out in training camp, but he did not make the roster and ultimately landed on the practice squad.
The move was made to accommodate Pernell McPhee. McPhee had agreed to a deal to re-sign with the Ravens, but a player had to be waived to keep the roster at 90 players. Modster spent the majority of last season on the practice squad and with incoming rookie receivers Devin Duvernay and James Proche adding additional competition at the position, it seemed highly unlikely that Modster would make the final roster this season.
