Schefter: Ravens are trading for Calais Campbell

The deep-voiced monster from Florida heads to Baltimore

According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens have finalized a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for DE Calais Campbell.

This is an enormous trade for the Ravens as they bolster their front seven with one of the best trenchwork big men in the NFL. Over the past three seasons with Jacksonville, Campbelll has stuffed the stat-sheet with all 48 games played, six forced fumbles, 31.5 sacks, 77 QB hits and two fumble recovery touchdowns. This is a clear-cut sign the Ravens want to upgrade their defensive trenches after the loss to the Tennessee Titans in the 2019 Divisional round last season and there’s not many better to plug in than Campbell.

Last year, Campbell posted a 90.3 overall grade, whereas Michael Pierce, in his contract season, fell from a 90.8 overall in 2018 to a 69.2 overall. This will help return the Ravens interior defense to their traditional iron wall and also free up pass-rushers on the outside due to the double team Campbell often draws.
