The Ravens emerged victorious in the game of the year against the Browns on Monday, thanks to a stellar performance by QB Lamar Jackson and the leg of K Justin Tucker. Baltimore will travel to Jacksonville to face the one-win Jaguars now. Here are five keys for the Ravens to avoid a letdown game and improve to 9-5 this week.
1) Pound the rock
Baltimore’s gameplan should be fairly straightforward considering they have the league’s best rushing attack and will be facing the third-worst run defense in the NFL. RBs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards should both see extensive playing time against Jacksonville.
2) Apply pressure on Gardner Minshew
With several CBs questionable to play for the Ravens, their best strategy will be to quickly apply pressure on QB Gardner Minshew and force him into mistakes.
3) Limit James Robinson
RB James Robinson has been one of the best stories of the season. After going undrafted, Robinson currently ranks third in the league in rushing yards. The Ravens must tighten up on defense this week and prevent Robinson from gaining steam.
4) Capitalize on defense
Cleveland fumbled the ball seven times against Baltimore on Monday, but the Ravens were unable to recover a single one. Baltimore’s defensive success is predicated on taking the ball away so they must return to capitalizing on their opportunities.
5) Make plays in the passing game
The Ravens have looked better through the air in recent weeks, but mistakes still plague the passing attack. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was at the brunt of those mistakes last week as he dropped several passes before finally atoning with a 44-yard touchdown on fourth down. Baltimore must capitalize on opportunities in the passing game when they present themselves.
