Once again this season, the Baltimore Beatdown staff will pick the winners for each week’s slate of contests throughout the year. Results will be tracked throughout the year to see who is most accurate with their predictions.

Readers can participate by voting in the polls for each game below. Join in on the fun and chime in with your thoughts on every matchup!

Updated Standings:

  1. BB readers (83-36)
  2. Vasilis (82-37)
  3. Frank, Kyle, Spencer (78-41)
  4. Dustin (77-42)
  5. Jakob (71-48)

Consensus Picks —

The team was in agreement on the following matchups in Week 8:

Our writers like a pair of convincing AFC favorites to prevail in divisional matchups this week, that being the Patriots and Texans. New England and Houston have just three combined wins on the season, but their opponents have been just as bad — and worse in the Jets’ case.

On Thursday night, the Packers are favored by just a shade over a touchdown against the 49ers in a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game. San Francisco will be without Jimmy Garoppolo, George Kittle, and a bevy of other starters on both sides of the ball.

The team is also envisioning the top two AFC squads, Kansas City and Pittsburgh, winning their contests against the Panthers and Cowboys, respectively. The Chiefs are favored narrowly over 10 points, while the Steelers are nearly a two-touchdown favorite.

In one of the more compelling games of the week, the Cardinals were picked across the board to defeat the Dolphins. Arizona is favored by four points at home in a battle of two young quarterbacks in Kyler Murray and Tua Tagovailoa.

Lone Wolf Picks —

  • Spencer likes the Colts to beat the Ravens at home (IND +2.5)
  • Dustin is rolling with the Bears over the Titans (CHI +6)
  • Kyle picked the Lions to defeat the Vikings, the only writer to do so (DET +4)
  • Jakob is taking the Saint over the Buccaneers in an NFC South showdown (NO +4.5)

Likely an unpopular pick among Ravens fans, Spencer is by himself in taking the Colts over Baltimore this weekend. Indianapolis is a 2.5-point favorite at home and defeated the Lions by 20 points in Week 8.

Speaking of the Lions, Kyle is all alone in rolling with Detroit to upset the Vikings in a divisional matchup. The Lions are expected to be without starting QB Matthew Stafford, who was placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list this week. That clearly doesn’t phase Kyle from picking them anyways, though.

Dustin was the only writer who picked the Bears to defeat the Titans. Chicago is a 6-point underdog on the road, but both teams are coming off two straight losses. Thus, there’s a lot at stake in this matchup.

Finally, Jakob was bold enough to pick the Saints to take down the Buccaneers in arguably the most anticipated game of the week — on SNF. New Orleans won this matchup back in Week 1 but has opened as a 4.5-point underdog against Tom Brady and Tampa Bay.
