Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds for Week 9

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens Mitchell Layton-USA TODAY Sports

Gus Edwards (RB, Baltimore Ravens)

ESPN ownership: 4.3%

Week 8 stats: 16 carries, 87 rushing yards, 1 touchdown

Despite facing the toughest rushing defense in the league, Edwards produced a quality fantasy performance in Mark Ingram’s absence. Edwards has been one of the most efficient running backs in the league over the past couple of seasons. He has three career games with over 20 carries. Here are his stats from those games:

2018 Week 6 vs. Oakland: 23 carries, 118 yards

2018 Week 7 at Atlanta: 21 carries, 82 yards

2019 Week 17 vs. Pittsburgh: 21 carries, 130 yards

According to reports, the Ravens may be without Ingram again next week.

Edwards holds immense short-term value with Ingram sidelined. Sure, the Colts will be a difficult matchup, but we have no reason to doubt Edwards at this point.

Jordan Wilkins (RB, Indianapolis Colts)

ESPN ownership: 0.5%

Week 8 stats: 20 carries, 89 rushing yards, 1 touchdown; 1 reception, 24 receiving yards

Surprisingly, Wilkins led the Colts in carries and rushing yards this week, and I’m not sure what to do with that information. Wilkins had only two carries for zero yards over the previous two games. It is also worth noting that Nyheim Hines scored two touchdowns in this game after not recording a touchdown since Week 1. Jonathan Taylor is still the most trustworthy option in this backfield, but Wilkins is definitely worth monitoring next week. In deeper leagues, he is a solid addition.

Brandon Aiyuk (WR, San Francisco 49ers)

ESPN ownership: 60.9%

Week 8 stats: 8 receptions, 91 receiving yards, 1 touchdown

Aiyuk had a big game against the Patriots last week with six receptions for 115 yards. He followed that up with another great performance this week against the Seahawks. If Deebo Samuel misses Thursday night’s game against the Packers, Aiyuk will be a great flex option.
