The Ravens improved to 6-2 with a 24-10 victory over the Colts in Week 9. The offense was shut out in the first half but rebounded with a strong finish to put Indianapolis away.
The defense was the story of the day, however, as the unit dominated with All-Pro CB Marlon Humphrey and All-Pro DE Calais Campbell for most of the game. In Humphrey’s absence, CB Marcus Peters rose to the occasion and forced two key turnovers, making him the MVP of the week.
Peters’ first turnover came on the Colts’ third drive. Down 7-0 near the end of the first quarter, Peters forced a fumble against rookie RB Jonathan Taylor. The fumble was recovered by S Chuck Clark and returned for a 65-yard touchdown to tie the game.

Peters forced a second turnover on Indianapolis’ first drive of the third quarter. RB Gus Edwards had just fumbled at the goal line after an impressive drive from Baltimore’s offense, swinging momentum in favor of the Colts. Peters didn’t let that last, however, as he intercepted Philip Rivers on the very first play from the Colts after taking over from Edwards’ fumble.

Controversy immediately surrounded this play after it was initially ruled incomplete but overturned and ruled an interception and then fumble recovery by Clark following a challenge from John Harbaugh. Senior Vice President of Officiating explains the reasoning behind the overturned call in the video below.

Peters finished as PFF’s highest-graded cornerback for Week 9 after his two-takeaway performance. Peters continues to prove how much of a steal it was for GM Eric DeCosta to acquire him for just a fifth-round pick and a backup linebacker.
