Updated Standings:
- Vasilis, BB readers (46-17)
- Frank, Kyle (44-19)
- Spencer (43-20)
- Peter (42-21)
- Dustin (40-23)
- Jakob (39-24)
Consensus Selections —
The staff was in agreement on the following matchups in Week 5:
- Steelers > Eagles (PIT -7)
- Texans > Jaguars (HOU -6)
- Cardinals > Jets (AZ -7)
- Bills > Titans (N/A)
- Rams > Washington (LAR -7)
- Ravens > Bengals (BAL -13)
- Chiefs > Raiders (KC -12)
- 49ers > Dolphins (SF -8)
- Patriots > Broncos (NE -13)
- Cowboys > Giants (DAL -9.5)
- Seahawks > Vikings (SEA -7)
As you can see, our writers are going chalk with their picks on the majority of games this week — 11 to be exact. This represents the highest amount of unanimous predictions of any week so far this season.
The status of some of these games, most notably the Bills/Titans matchup and the Patriots vs. Broncos game, is up in the air at the moment. However, if these games are played, our staff likes the Bills and Patriots to prevail as heavy favorites.
All of the aforementioned games above feature a team who is a touchdown-favorite, with lone exception being the Texans, who are a six-point favorite against the Jaguars. Houston will be coached by interim HC Romeo Crennel after firing Bill O’Brien earlier this week.
The Ravens and Chiefs are once again favored by double-digits for the second consecutive week, and our writers don’t envision the Bengals or Raiders pulling off a miraculous upset.
Lone Wolf Selections —
These staff members are going against the grain with these picks in Week 4:
- Vasilis likes the Bears to upset the Buccaneers on Thursday night (CHI +3.5)
This is surprisingly the only lonesome pick of the week, but it’s certainly a bold one. Both Tampa Bay and Chicago sit at 3-1 on the season but are moving in opposite directions.
The Buccaneers are winners of three straight while the Bears lost their first game last week to the Colts by a score of 19-11. Chicago is once again starting Nick Foles at quarterback, which means we’ll be treated to a Foles-Brady rematch from Super Bowl LII.
