Our staff likes both of the undefeated-no-more teams to bounce back after suffering their first losses of the season in Week 7: Tennessee and Seattle. The Titans are favored by 5.5 points over the Bengals, while the Seahawks are just a field goal favorite against the 49ers.
Elsewhere, the Packers and Chargers were picked unanimously to emerge victorious from their respective divisional matchups. Green Bay has beaten the Vikings in three straight matchups, while the Chargers picked up their second win of the season in Week 7.
It’s “Tua Time” in Miami, but that didn’t stop our writers from picking the Rams over the Dolphins across the board. The Rams improved to 5-2 on the year after securing a 24-10 victory over the Bears on MNF last week.
In the two biggest point spreads of the week, both favorited teams (Chiefs, Buccaneers) were a consensus choice to win. Kansas City is almost a three-touchdown favorite over the winless Jets, while the Buccaneers are favored by just a shade over 10 points against the other football team that resides in New York.
Lone Wolf Selections —
Only two writers are going against the grain with these picks in Week 8:
- Frank is by himself in taking the Patriots over the Bills in an AFC East tilt (BUF -3.5)
- Peter likes the Bears over the Saints at home (NO -4)
The Patriots have lost three straight games and are on the heels of a 33-6 blowout defeat against the 49ers in Week 7. QB Cam Newton has thrown five interceptions and zero touchdowns in his past two starts. New England is a 3.5-point underdog in Buffalo, but Frank likes the Patriots to prevail over the current AFC East leader.
Peter is the only writer favoring the Bears over New Orleans. The Saints have won three straight games, all by single digits, while the Bears suffered a 14-point loss to the Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 7. Chicago is a 4-point underdog but is playing at home.
