Consensus Selections —
The staff was in agreement on the following matchups in Week 7:
- Eagles > Giants (PHI -4)
- Bills > Jets (BUF -13)
- Packers > Texans (GB -3.5)
- Saints > Panthers (NO -7.5)
- Chiefs > Broncos (KC -9.5)
Only five games fall into the unanimous category this week. The Eagles were picked across the board to defeat the Giants on Thursday night. Philadelphia is down several starters on both sides of the ball but is still opened by four points over their NFC East compadre.
Perhaps the safest bet in all of the NFL right now is picking against the Jets. New York is nearly a two-touchdown underdog against the Bills, who are looking to halt a two-game losing streak. Needless to say our writers envision them doing so.
The staff also likes the Packers to bounce back against the Texans after an embarrassing loss to Tampa Bay in Week 6. Elsewhere, the Saints were unanimously chosen to pick the Panthers in another divisional matchup. New Orleans is fresh off a bye week and is expected to get WR Michael Thomas back in the lineup.
Finally, the Chiefs were evidently an easy choice over the Broncos. Kansas City is favored by almost 10 points.
Lone Wolf Selections —
These staff members are going against the grain with these picks in Week 7:
- Jakob likes the Bengals to upset the Browns in an AFC North showdown (CIN +3)
- Kyle is rolling with the Raiders over the Buccaneers on SNF (LVR +2.5)
- Frank has the Bears defeating the Rams on the road (CHI +5.5)
Cincinnati is on a four-game losing skid, but Jakob envisions them getting back into the win column at the expense of the Browns. Cleveland defeated the Bengals by a score of 35-30 in Week 2 but lost to the Steelers by 31 points last Sunday.
The next two lone wolf picks come on Sunday and Monday night. First up is Kyle, who is by himself in taking the Raiders over the Buccaneers. Las Vegas is playing host on primetime but stands as a 2.5-point underdog against Tom Brady and company.
Lastly, Frank likes the Bears to upset the Rams in the final game of the week. Chicago is a 5.5-point underdog despite possessing an impressive 5-1 record on the season. In two meeting against the Bears in his career, Rams QB Jared Goff has thrown zero touchdowns and five interceptions, while completing just 50% of his passes.
