NFL 100 All Time Team- Head Coaches

That's it, the NFL Network series has come to an end. The Wall of 100 is complete plus the 10 coaches to join the 100 player's as the NFL celebrates the centennial with the last names to bring it all to a close. It's been a fun exercise as this was a celebration of 100 years of the NFL choosing player's from every era & not the 100 best to ever play.

It's fitting they would do the coaches last since a team goes nowhere without a great coach. Every dynasty has had a great coach to lead that team to wins in the regular season & to postseason glory. There have been thousands of coaches to pace the sidelines, but only several dozen have been able to climb the mountain & claim to be the best.

These coaches did moore than win, they also brought innovations to the game while they were coaching. The list is endless & each one brought something different to the party. The game continues to evolve & we should see the next wave of great coaches take over the sidelines as the game continues to grow.

There is no magic formula as to what makes a great coach. They come from different backgrounds as before becoming head coaches. We have seen WWII vets, former player's & even a guy who used to be a punter all rise through the ranks as they hones their craft on their journey at becoming the head coach.

We still have yet to see a coach win a Super Bowl with two different teams. We have seen several take two teams to the dance, but come up short winning with a different franchise. These great men were the faces of the team the represented while coaching & usually their reigns ended with retirement rather than failure.

I would be remiss if I did not lend a word of praise to a coach that past away today. Sam Wyche who led the Bengals to the SB XXIII. He coached there for 8 years bringing innovations to the league that upset the old school with his no huddle offense plus a list of other innovations. While his legacy was short & he came up short in the postseason, the league is in a better place because of guys like Sam.

We should also take a moment to acknowledge the 6 special teamer's who were selected. There were two kickers, Jan Stenerud & Adam Vinatieri. The two punters were Ray Guy & Shane Lechler. The two kick returner's were Billy " White Shoes" Johnson & Devin Hester.

So on with the show & let's start the debate as there is always some guy who didn't make it! Thanks again to everybody for putting up with my attempt to amuse the masses with this series!
