After a big time opening day win in which pretty much everything went right, one of the few concerns the Ravens had about Sunday’s proceedings related to the health of cornerback Jimmy Smith. He went out of the game against the Dolphins early with a knee injury that initially looked serious, and had to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the actual severity of it.
The results have come in, and it looks like Smith and the Ravens May have dodged a bit of a bullet in looking at them:
#Ravens CB Jimmy Smith has an MCL sprain, source said. That’s good news, as he avoided major injury.

With the depth of Baltimore’s cornerback group suffering a hit in the loss of Tavon Young, losing Smith for a significant period of time would’ve made a very strong group suddenly begin to look a little more thin. While there doesn’t appear to be a timeline just yet, it does sound like Smith will be back in the picture sooner rather than later.
There’s sure to be more updates on his status moving forward, and Baltimore Beatdown will be sure to keep you in the loop on them as they come out.
