In a move that will be shocking more for timing than the fact that it actually took place, the Ravens are moving on from a wideout who they invested a fifth-round pick into just over a year ago:
Though he was a late rounder, Lasley was seen as a relative steal by some in the 2018 NFL Draft coming out of UCLA. He was viewed as a player with great raw ability who was destined to fall a bit due to some reported disciplinary issues both on and off the field.
This is a bit of a surprise given where we’re at on the calendar right now; just a week into camp, you’d think Baltimore would allow a younger player to go the distance in camp and at least make a case to be on the final roster come September. Apparently, they’ve seen enough though and he’ll now be looking for work elsewhere just ahead of Thursday’s preseason opener in Canton.
It’s unfortunate that Lasley couldn’t make it work in Baltimore, but the early reports out of camp on him were anything but pretty. Hopefully for his sake he can catch on with another camp soon, but for now it appears the Ravens have seen all they need to suggest he won’t be doing so in Baltimore.
