Watch: Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin react to their ratings in Madden 20

In the coming weeks, the ratings for each team’s players in the upcoming edition of Madden will be unveiled. We’ve already started to learn the ratings of some prominent rookies, though, including Ravens wide receivers Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin.

Check out the instagram video below released by Madden’s official account. You can spot Boykin at the beginning and Brown at various points throughout the clip. It’s important to note, however, that these just initial ratings and each player’s overall is subject to change prior to the release of the game.

We don’t yet know Boykin’s overall, but we do know that he doesn’t exactly approve of his run blocking rating (54).

“Have you guys seen my blocking?” Boykin said with a bemused look on his face. Boykin may have been the best blocking-receiver in this year’s draft class, so it’s easy to see why he would feel 54 is a bit low. However, wide receivers rarely receive high blocking ratings and Boykin is only a rookie, so he’ll have to prove his blocking will translate to the NFL.

As for “Hollywood”, Brown’s overall rating is a 77, which appears to be the highest-rating among all rookie receivers in the game. Brown was the first wide receiver taken in the draft, so this comes as no surprise.

Fellow rookie wideout A.J. Brown, who was selected by the Titans in the second round, is a 72 overall. Fifth-round pick Hunter Renfrow (Oakland) is a 70 overall, and D.K. Metcalf and Mecole Hardman each have 95 speed ratings. For comparison, Brown’s speed is rated 97 - which, while high, evidently wasn’t satisfactory enough for Hollywood.

“‘Alright, I’m changing my speed from a 97 to a 98,” Brown said at the 0:42 mark.

At the end of the day, Madden ratings are far from the end-all-be-all. Still, it’s entertaining to see players’ reactions to their attributes. Don’t be surprised to see Brown and Boykin’s ratings change before the game comes out, as well as fluctuate throughout the season when EA releases routine roster updates.

Fans will have the chance to play with the Ravens’ exciting rookie receiver duo when Madden officially releases on August 2. Be sure to stay tuned in the coming weeks for the ratings reveal of other players on Baltimore’s roster.
