Ravens bring in former Navy Head Coach Paul Johnson for today’s practice

NCAA Football: Georgia Tech at North Carolina Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

Last season, Marty Mornhinweg opted to run with Lamar Jackson, literally. The rookies’ first start resulted in breaking the NFL record for most rushes by a quarterback (27) and the most rushing yards by a Ravens quarterback (119 yards). The scheme continued as Jackson totaled 695 rushing yards to his 1201-yard passing total.

After the Ravens lost to the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wildcard Round, the franchise changed offensive coordinators. With Greg Roman at the helm, many expect a better run/pass ratio. The team also loaded up on receiving talent to better help their new franchise quarterback. But with such large additions to the passing game, John Harbaugh and the Ravens are not leaving the rushing attack in the rear-view mirror.

Paul Johnson is one of the mastermind’s to the Triple Option offense. He’s a genius in offensive scheme and his playbook is one of the most unique due to the chaotic poetry the triple offense creates.

This is great news for the Ravens as Johnson can provide top-tier critique and knowledge for the Ravens, from Jackson to the backup guards.
