Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds for Week 17

For those of you with Week 17 games, here are 3 waiver wire adds.

NFL: New England Patriots at Baltimore Ravens Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Gus Edwards (RB, Baltimore Ravens)

ESPN ownership: 4.8%

Week 16 stats: 12 carries, 66 rushing yards; 1 reception, 7 receiving yards

Mark Ingram exited Sunday's game during the 4th quarter with a calf strain. Even if he is cleared to play, he should sit out of next Sunday's game. The Ravens already have the number 1 seed locked up in the AFC. As a result, there is nothing on the line, so Ingram and some of the starters should get an opportunity to get extra rest before the postseason.

Gus Edwards is the backup running back on the depth chart, and he should lead the backfield without Ingram. Justice Hill should also see touches. Edwards is 4th in the NFL in yards per carry with 5.2 ypc. He only trails Lamar Jackson, Raheem Mostert, and Nick Chubb. Edwards has the talent to capitalize on his larger workload and could have a big week in Baltimore's run-first offense.

Travis Homer (RB, Seattle Seahawks)

ESPN ownership: 0%

Week 16 stats: 5 carries, 16 rushing yards; 6 receptions, 26 receiving yards

Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise both suffered season-ending injuries on Sunday. Former first-round pick Rashaad Penny is already on the IR. Travis Homer is the only remaining running back on the roster. He did not put up big stats on Sunday, and he actually had more receptions than carries. The Seahawks could pass the football more with Carson out, and Homer would still benefit in that scenario. He is a more valuable addition in PPR leagues.

Mike Gesicki (TE, Miami Dolphins)

ESPN ownership: 25.4%

Week 16 stats: 6 receptions, 82 yards, 2 touchdowns

This was easily Mike Gesicki's best game this season. He tied a season-high with 6 catches. It was also the first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Gesicki has shown improvement during the second half of the season. Part of that is due to an improvement in production for Miami's passing offense as a whole. Ryan Fitzpatrick has 11 passing touchdowns in the last 5 games. He only had 8 passing touchdowns in his first 10 games. Gesicki has benefited. He has 4 touchdowns in his past 5 games.
