Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds: Week 9

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

J.D. McKissic (RB, Detroit Lions)

ESPN ownership: 5.9%

Week 9 stats: 4 carries, 32 rushing yards; 3 receptions, 40 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown

Honestly, the waiver wire is rough this week, especially at running back. At this point in the season, most valuable running backs are already on fantasy rosters, and there were not any huge breakout performances this week.

J.D. McKissic is splitting the workload in the backfield with Ty Johnson. Heading into this week, Johnson seemed like the back to own, and he did receive more carries. However, Johnson was significantly outplayed by McKissic on Sunday. Johnson only gained 36 scrimmage yards on 12 touches, while McKissic doubled Johnson's yardage on only seven touches. Moving forward, McKissic could gain a larger share of the workload, and at the very least, it is a situation worth monitoring.

DeVante Parker (WR, Miami Dolphins)

ESPN ownership: 19.8%

Week 9 stats: 4 receptions, 57 yards, 1 touchdown

I included DeVante Parker on my Week 7 adds, and he still remains one of the best options sitting on the waiver wire. Parker has a touchdown reception in four out of the past five games. He also has topped 50 yards in five out of his past six games.

Still, Parker's value is limited with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen at quarterback, but as the No. 1 receiver in Miami's offense, he is a touchdown-dependent flex option.

Derrius Guice (RB, Washington Redskins)

ESPN ownership: 32.8%

Week 9 stats: N/A

Derrius Guice is supposed to be Washington's running back of the future. That was the plan when they selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, he has only played in one game up to this point due to injuries. Guice is scheduled to return after Washington's bye week. Sure, Adrian Peterson is playing exceptionally well, but with the Redskins in the midst of a rebuild, they have every incentive to give Guice touches. He is worth a stash in deeper leagues or if you desperately need a running back.
