The New York Jets have released former second round pick, wide receiver Devin Smith according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Jets are releasing former 2015 second-round pick Devin Smith, per source. Smith suffered two torn ACLs and has struggled to recover from them.

Smith was a highly-touted deep-threat coming out of Ohio State, so the typical question when a move like this is made arises: Should the Ravens inquire on Smith’s health? Furthermore, if his knees check out as healthy, should they sign him?
At this point, the former Buckeye needs to focus on getting fully healthy. Two ACL tears certainly isn’t anything to just gloss over.
Assuming he ever does get back to full strength, he would represent an intriguing flyer for Baltimore to pick up on. Whether that’s in the relative, immediate or distant future, Smith has (or at least had) an innate big play ability up his sleeve.
Hopefully Smith is able to get back to full strength and resume his playing career. If he ever does get back to that point, Baltimore should look into giving him a shot.
