News broke moments ago, of QB Robert Griffin III signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
We have agreed to a one-year deal with QB Robert Griffin.

— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) April 4, 2018
The mentions on the Ravens’ and RGIII’s twitter are rather mixed. Some are happy with the move for a backup quarterback, while others are negative. I’m here to break down both sides.
The Bad:
Griffin has been out of the league for over a year now, with his last game played during Week 17 of the 2016-2017 NFL season. The reasoning for his absence in the NFL is not completely due to the injuries, either, it’s due to his lack of a complete game. Since the injury, Griffin no longer could utilize his greatest strength, evasiveness, to create plays or avoid the rush. Griffin III also became a shell of himself. He stopped squaring up, and stepping into his throws. He couldn’t read defenses, or stopped reading defenses, and never shook the nervous jitters.
The Good:
Baltimore isn’t signing Robert as their starting quarterback; Joe Flacco is the obvious starter. This is only a one-year deal, and while the details have not been released, it can’t be a whole lot. He does have NFL game experience and brings in competition for Josh Woodrum. I also believe RGIII still has mobility, and it’s valuable to practice against. I have mentioned it before, but I believe Tyrod Taylor’s presence on the team during the 2012-2013 season helped tremendously for SB XLVII, against Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers. This can help the Ravens prepare for Tyrod Taylor, Marcus Mariota and Cam Newton for the 2018-2019 NFL season.
