NFL Draft: Ravens pick LB Kenny Young

NCAA Football: Arizona State at UCLA Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

The Ravens have made their second pick of the fourth-round, as they select LB Kenny Young.

The Ravens certainly need help at inside linebacker, but this didn’t feel like the place to pick one. After the big names left early in the first- and second-rounds, many expected Baltimore to find a wide receiver in the fourth-round.

The draft projection given to Kenny Young isn’t positive, as he was an expected seventh-round/UDFA. But if Baltimore believes in his speed and athletic ability, there may be something to pair with All-Pro C.J. Mosley.

The confidence I have in this pick boosts when considering the development ability of the Ravens. Don ‘Wink’ Martindale has produced starting quality linebackers out of UDFA’s for years now, and Kenny Young’s 4.6 speed and 36.0 inch vertical certainly stand out. Just as I have asked about in the week’s prior, the Ravens are attempting to pair C.J. Mosley with a fast, coverage linebacker.
