Ozzie couldn’t resist. There was no way in his final draft to not pick a player from Alabama. Welcome to the Ravens, Anthony Averett!

Averett is a senior from the Alabama Crimson Tide. A great pick for the Ravens as he can contribute both in the defensive game and on special teams.
Now, the Ravens are pairing Marlon Humphrey with Averett, which can only further create competition as both Brandon Carr and Jimmy Smith creep closer to the end of their deals.
It’s worth noting, Averett has serious speed. At the combine, Anthony posted a 4.36 40-yard dash. He’s won two College Football Championships and is a three-time SEC Champion. Can’t really knock a player with such impressive hardware.
Humphrey believes this draft hasn’t been kind to the ‘Bama products, as yesterday he tweeted:

Averett wasn’t a pick-machine with the Crimson tide. In his final two seasons, he produced only a single interception. He did, however, produce eight passes defensed and 48 tackles in back-to-back seasons. A corner unafraid to make the hits is important in this league, and Averett’s numbers show he’ll wrap a player up and make the tackle.
