Are you confident in the newest Ravens? Certainly if Ozzie Newsome and the front office of the Baltimore Ravens are, you should be too, right? Well it’s less than 24 hours out of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and the Ravens have announced the jersey numbers for both Hayden Hurst and Lamar Jackson!

Lamar Jackson will don #8 for the Ravens, which you can take however you’d like. Trent Dilfer wore #8, and though he wasn’t a star quarterback, he somehow ended up hoisting a Lombardi trophy. Let’s not act like these two are anywhere near the same talent level, though.

Hayden Hurst will wear #81, which was worn by multiple, big-name Baltimore Ravens.

First, the jersey was worn by the late Michael Jackson. Less than a year ago, Jackson passed away in a motorcycle accident in his hometown of Tangipahoa, La. He was a great receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, and in the franchise’s inaugural season, posted the franchise record for receiving yards in a single season, 1201 yards, which still stands today.

Anquan Boldin also wore #81 for the Ravens. I don’t need to remind Ravens fans of Q’s importance and legacy with the Baltimore Ravens. The man was the embodiment of, ‘Play like a Raven’.

I don’t believe Hurst will be following in the shadow of these receivers, but rather, forging his own path as the next great first-round tight end for Baltimore.
