Since 2009, the mantra for Baltimore football has been a single phrase: “Play like a Raven”.
The characteristics feature, “Passion, strength, good character, courage, intensity, humility, determination, intelligence and pride to compete at the highest level” —Baltimoreravens.com
All these qualities make up LB Shaquem Griffin.
This man didn’t receive an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, and after petitioning to attend, ultimately received a chance.

Not only did he attend, he put on a show.
He racked 20 reps of 225 with a prosthetic on his left arm.
Using a prosthetic on his left arm, @Shaquemgriffin just put up 20 reps on the bench press! #NFLCombine @UCF_Football

He produced the fastest 40-time by a linebacker since 2003.
WOW. @ShaquemGriffin just ran a 4.38u 40-yard dash!

But most importantly, he’s a damn football player with heart, courage and a drive we Ravens fans love.
Shaquem Griffin played big-time college football. He earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. He helped lead the UCF Knights to an undefeated season— a championship season, and earned the Peach Bowl Defensive MVP. He has the film, he has the stats and I believe a purple & black jersey would fit him perfectly.
For a team so in love with defensive prospects, for a team so set in culture and history, there is not a man in this draft with more, passion, strength, good character, courage, intensity, humility, determination, intelligence and pride to compete at the highest level than Shaquem Griffin.
