The first big domino of the free agent market has fallen. On Tuesday night, the Miami Dolphins utilized the franchise tag on wide receiver Jarvis Landry, effectively taking him off the market.

Normally it’s not significant when another team retains its own player before free agency kicks off in March, but much like Ravens players did with Tony Jefferson, Danny Woodhead and Jeremy Maclin, they made pitches to Landry on social media to lure him to Baltimore.
With the tag, Landry will be set to make $16 million this year if he and the Dolphins can’t work out anything long-term.
The news comes as a bit of a surprise, as many expected Landry to hit free agency. For the Ravens, if they had any significant pitches written up for Landry, they’ll need to go back to the drawing board. With the status of Rams’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins up in the air, it’s not looking like a good year to be in need of a free agent wide receiver.
Fortunately for the Ravens’ front office, they’ll have plenty of time to re-evaluate their strategy, with free agency set to open in a little over two weeks.
What should the Ravens do in free agency with Landry off the market?
