Ravens fans (unsurprisingly) picked the Steelers as their top rival, but the feeling isn’t mutual

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

SB Nation recently polled all 32 NFL fanbases on which team they believe is their top rival. Without a doubt, Baltimore Ravens fans agreed upon the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yes, the Bengals have consistently knocked Baltimore down and the Patriots are a big AFC rival, but there’s nothing like Ravens vs. Steelers in the NFL. Throughout history, these teams both produced multiple Hall of Fame players, legendary defenses and Super Bowl trophies. But as Ravens fans view Pittsburgh as their greatest foe, their fanbase does not agree.

Honestly, this is eye-rolling. Last I checked, Ravens vs. Steelers is a top rivalry in the NFL. All NFL fans tune into Ravens vs. Steelers because they know the game is hard-hitting and filled with intensity.

The understandable reason why Steelers fans believe it is the New England Patriots is clearly due to the butt-kicking Ben Roethlisberger and Company receive against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Since 2005, the Patriots have beaten the Steelers nine times, including two AFC Championships [footballdb]. The constant losing (currently five-straight losses), is leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of Steelers fans and they crave vengeance so bad they believe they’re the top rival.

In this situation, this is a little brother believing their top rival is the bigger brother, who isn’t even paying attention to them. According to Pats Pulpit’s rivalry post, the Steelers weren’t even listed.

Something of note: The Behind the Steel Curtain’s article comments strongly disagree with the fan vote. Most of the replies read ‘Ravens’ and disagree with the Pats being the top vote-getter.
