The Ravens enter the second quarter of the season at 3-1 and in second place in the AFC North behind the Bengals. For Week 5, Baltimore will travel to Cleveland to face the revived Browns. No longer the 0-16 punch line of the 2017 season, the Browns have found new hope with offseason additions and promising young talent.
While the Ravens are touting the second ranked total defense in the league, the Browns are behind just the Dolphins and Bears for the most interceptions through four games. Cornerback Denzel Ward, the fourth overall pick in this year’s draft, has proven his worth early, leading the team in picks. Myles Garrett, the first selection in the 2017 draft, continues to impress, recording a team-high 4.5 sacks in four games. Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield experience a bit of a drop off in his first career start in Week 4, finishing the day with a 70.1 passer rating, down from his 100.1 passer rating when he took over for Tyrod Taylor against the Jets.
Coming off a pivotal victory against the rival Steelers, the Ravens can no longer sleep walk through Cleveland for an easy win. Joe Flacco will look to build on his successful start connecting with his new receivers, and Baltimore’s surging defensive unit will have corner Jimmy Smith back on the field. This matchup should be one of the more intriguing contests between these two teams.
