Ravens hire James Urban as their quarterbacks coach

New, comment

The Baltimore Ravens have hired James Urban as their new quarterbacks coach.

Urban was the wide receivers coach for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-2017.

He was also with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2004 to 2010, serving as the quarterbacks coach in the final few years. Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick both enjoyed trips to the Pro Bowl under him.

This appears to be a great hire for the Ravens. Joe Flacco is constantly criticized for his mechanics and footwork. Baltimore has been without a dedicated quarterbacks coach since Marty Mornhinweg was promoted to offensive coordinator in the midst of the 2016 season. Hopefully, Urban will help to crack down on the basics of Flacco’s game and really drill it into his head.

The Ravens absolutely need to upgrade offensively, and this is the first of many steps I’m sure they will take before the start of the 2018 regular season.
