There appears to be a crossroads for Baltimore Ravens fans.
Some believe the team can compete in 2018, while others prefer acquiring capital for the 2018 season, whether it be cutting for cap space, trading for picks and cap space and ‘tanking’ for the better of the franchise, for the 2019 season.
The arguments, the reasoning:
The Ravens can compete in the 2018-2019 season
The Baltimore Ravens were a bad zone play call with busted coverage from the 2018 NFL playoffs. They certainly don’t look like a team which would have made it far, but with a new defensive coordinator, some injured players returning and a fresh draft class entering the fold, they are capable of making the postseason in the upcoming campaign.
Tavon Young, Jimmy Smith, Marshal Yanda, Alex Lewis are all returning, and these will only add to an already talented team. Joe Flacco’s back problem will be a year in the past and with Alex Collins only building on his strong first season with the Ravens, the offense is a single star pass-catcher from opening up the offense.
Baltimore has an opportunity to succeed in the upcoming season, and why waste it?
The Ravens are a quick re-tooling and fix from being successful, and biting the bullet in 2018 will help them become stronger for 2019
The Baltimore Ravens have kicked the cap space can down the street for too long, and now it’s time to clean it up with a one-year flush. Cut the fat, quit handing out lucrative deals and acquire capital through a means of trading players any which way you can. Some even mention trading C.J. Mosley for picks, this way Baltimore recuperates the loss of Mosley with draft capital, and also saving the money for signing their inside linebacker a star deal. The 2018 season is already lost, whether it be Ben Roethlisberger and the Killer B’s still around, or the ageless Tom Brady, why not take a one-year hiatus, and come back in 2019 with a plan of action, and a hope of these Hall of Fame quarterbacks finally hanging up their cleats.
