Thirty-seven players will be cut from the Baltimore Ravens, within the next 42 hours. With no more preseason ahead, I’ve finished my final roster prediction.
Previous predictions:
Week One
Week Two
Week Three
Current Injuries:
Tavon Young — Season ending
Kenneth Dixon — Season ending
Nico Siragusa — Season ending
Tim White — Season ending
Alex Lewis — Season ending
Crockett Gillmore — Season ending
John Urschel— Retired
Offense — 23
QB: 2
Joe Flacco
Ryan Mallett
Josh Woodrum did not overtake Ryan Mallett in the back-up quarterback standings. He may stick with the Ravens in the practice squad, but he will not make the roster.
RB: 3
Terrance West
Danny Woodhead
Javorius Allen
All three were not playing today, which I take it as they’re locks. I don’t believe Taquan Mizzell or Bobby Rainey will make the 53-man roster, though they both are good players.
FB: 0
Lorenzo Taliaferro did not demonstrate enough value, to me, as a hybrid-back. He was utilized tonight in close down and distance, but it wasn’t noteworthy. With the Ravens using Patrick Ricard so much, and Ricky Ortiz’ involvement, he didn’t win the job, and I don’t think Ortiz did either.
WR: 6
Jeremy Maclin
Mike Wallace
Breshad Perriman
Michael Campanaro
Chris Moore
Chris Matthews
Quincy Adeboyejo may have lost a spot over the past couple weeks, as Chris Matthews is a valuable Special Teams player, and just as good of a receiver, maybe better. Also, Adeboyejo can become a practice squad player with Baltimore, while I don’t believe Matthews can be.
TE: 4
Nick Boyle
Benjamin Watson
Maxx Williams
Larry Donnell
Nothing has changed here since my first prediction. All four will make the roster
Tackle: 4
Ronnie Stanley
Austin Howard
James Hurst
Jermaine Eluemunor
Unchanged from last week. These are the tackles staying with Baltimore.
Guard: 2
Marshal Yanda
De’Ondre Wesley
Center: 2
Ryan Jensen
Matt Skura
An interesting call, but after reading Jamison Hensley’s projection, his process makes sense. The Ravens will cut Zuttah, only to re-sign him after they can place Maurice Canady on injured reserve. He has to be on the roster until Sunday, so they designate him to return.
Defense — 27
DE: 5
Brent Urban
Bronson Kaufusi
Chris Wormley
Carl Davis
Patrick Ricard
Ravens can’t give up this amount of talent without receiving something in return. I expect them to find a trade for one of these young talents.
DT: 3
Brandon Williams
Michael Pierce
Willie Henry
Yes, all eight make the roster. They’re too valuable.
OLB: 5
Terrell Suggs
Matt Judon
Tyus Bowser
Tim Williams
Za’Darius Smith
ILB: 4
C.J. Mosley
Patrick Onwausor
Kamalei Correa
Bam Bradley
After the season-ending injury to Albert McClellan, the Ravens land a young special teams contributing linebacker with Bam. He locked up his position tonight, with multiple ST-tackles.
CB: 5
Jimmy Smith
Brandon Carr
Marlon Humphrey
Jaylen Hill
Maurice Canady
Maurice has to be on the roster until Sunday to receive the expected IR-expected to return designation. Otherwise, this isn’t a surprising list.
S: 5
Eric Weddle
Tony Jefferson
Lardarius Webb
Anthony Levine Sr.
Chuck Clark
The rookie, Clark, makes it as my 53rd man. I expect the four safeties, all veterans, can coach him and groom him into a more well-rounded player.
Special Teams — 3
Kicker:
Justin Tucker
Punter:
Sam Koch
Long-Snapper:
Morgan Cox
