Report: Crockett Gillmore and Maurice Canady suffer “potentially significant knee injuries”

NFL: St. Louis Rams at Baltimore Ravens Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Injuries have been rampant for the Ravens this summer, and they are continuing early into training camp.

To say reports have been very conflicted surrounding recent injuries in camp would be a massive understatement. Tight end Crockett Gillmore is the subject of these reports. It was reported on Friday that Gillmore went down with knee injury, slamming his helmet down in frustration. It was at the time thought to be serious. However, on Saturday morning, it was reported that the team felt it had dodged a bullet with Gillmore’s injury, leading one to think the injury was minor. Now, however, reports are back to saying that Gillmore suffered a potentially significant injury according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.

Zrebiec reports that the team is still looking into the severity of the injury, and that they have not commented on Gillmore’s injury.

Gillmore was injured during Friday’s practice, and was helped off the field by trainers.

In addition, Zrebiec reports that second year cornerback Maurice Canady suffered a potentially significant knee injury. However, it was not as obvious when Gillmore suffered his injury. “The circumstance behind Canady’s knee injury is less clear,” Zrebeic writes. “Reporters didn’t notice him going down at any point during Friday’s practice.”

The team did not comment on Canady’s injury either, and the severity of his is also unknown at this time.

Canady has impressed over the summer during team activities. In fact, he was favored by many pundits to win the starting slot corner job after Tavon Young went down.
