Ravens still in play for Eric Decker

NFL: New York Jets-OTA Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have landed a pretty big time name at the wide receiver position in the former Chief and Eagle Jeremy Maclin, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they are still monitoring another high class player at the position.

That would be former Jet and Bronco Eric Decker, whom Baltimore expressed interest in when it was made clear that New York would be parting ways with the 30 year old pass catcher.

This is quite an interesting development, as Baltimore’s front office has almost seemed averse to adding excess offensive talent when it was available, and if they do indeed pull the trigger on this move, it shows that they are very serious about getting some help for quarterback Joe Flacco. That isn’t to say they haven’t been in the past, but it is an accusation that has been leveled against them by a frustrated fanbase that has seen it’s signal caller left twisting in the wind with no weapons around him one too many times.

The two year signing of Maclin is huge in and of itself, but an addition of Decker could make a position that was a weakness 24 hours ago into a legitimate strength for the Ravens. Stay with Baltimore Beatdown as this story continues to develop.
