The Jeremy Maclin sweepstakes has drawn out longer than many expected, but accoridng to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it will all come to an end today.
The teams involved, #Bills and #Ravens, expect a decision from FA WR Jeremy Maclin today. That should start the ball rolling for Eric Decker
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 12, 2017
As reported by Rapoport, Maclin is expected to make his decision today after thinking it through over the weekend.
The Ravens are one of two main suitors for Maclin, the other being the Buffalo Bills. Maclin visited the Bills early last week and then proceeded to visit the Ravens. The Bills and Ravens are the only two teams that Maclin has visited.
The Bills can offer Maclin more money, but the Ravens make more football sense for the former Chiefs wide receiver.
Rapoport also notes that Maclin’s decision will start the discussions for Eric Decker. As I wrote on Saturday, the Jets have been holding on to Decker possibly until Maclin signs. If Maclin signs today, then the pursuit of Decker intensifies.
The Ravens have a great shot at both receivers, and both are great fits. All that matters is that one ends up in purple and black.
