After releasing him just a few weeks ago, the Ravens are reportedly nearing a deal to bring back defensive back Lardarius Webb.
Ravens are nearing a deal to bring safety Lardarius Webb back into the fold. Versatile vet with deep ties in Baltimore
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) April 6, 2017
Webb was released following the marquee free agent signing of young safety Tony Jefferson. Webb’s contract was too expensive at that point for a player who didn't have a starting role.
However, the Ravens are looking to bring Webb back at a lower cost according to La Canfora.
Webb’s versatility, being able to play both safety and cornerback, will provide much needed depth to the Ravens secondary. As of right now, the unit is very thin. If Jimmy Smith were to go down again, Webb could be plugged in as a corner. If either Jefferson or Weddle were to get hurt, Webb would be able to fill the void.
Webb is coming off a really solid season in his first year playing safety. He is a talented player with a wealth of experience in the Ravens’ system. Resigning Webb would be a really solid move for Ozzie Newsome and his staff.
