With the 74th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have selected Chris Wormley, a defense lineman from the University of Michigan.
Wormley is somewhat of a tweener, as he is somewhere in between being a defensive end and a defensive tackle.
The Ravens lost both Lawrence Guy and Timmy Jernigan this offseason, meaning the Ravens likely will use him in one of those two end spots. While Wormley is viewed as a tweener, he actually seems to fit the mold of a 3-4 defensive end. In fact, Wormley is nearly the exact same size as Guy. Guy is 6-4, 305 pounds and Wormley is 6-5 298 pounds.
Wormley excelled as a pass rusher at Michigan, as he was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team. Plus, I’m sure that the Ravens took advantage of the Harbaugh connection to get inside information on Wormley.
Wormley only participated in the bench press at the Combine. However at his Pro Day, Wormley “ran the 40 in 4.82 and 4.87 seconds, had a 31.5-inch vertical, a 9-2 broad jump, a 4.55-second short shuttle, and a 7.08-second three-cone,” according to NFL.com.
