ESPN has Malik McDowell as Ravens round 2 ‘perfect fit’

NCAA Football: Michigan at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Football fans are foaming at the mouth after last night’s chaos; excited for another dose of the frenzy later tonight. For now though, they must settle for mock picks and experts choices.

ESPN posted their Round 2 perfect fit scenarios, and the Baltimore Ravens take a defensive trench specialist, Malik McDowell.

With all the measurables of success in-line with McDowell, teams still let McDowell fall down the boards due to motor issues. Most scouts are concerned with his work ethic and production.

If Baltimore takes McDowell, I trust in the coaching staff and environment to build McDowell into a force. Defensive line coach Joe Cullen is hell-raiser, capable of making potential become production. Playing alongside Michael Pierce and the Hulk, Brandon Williams, will also grow McDowell into a star.

ESPN’s Steve Muench:

Baltimore should be in the market for a defensive lineman, and McDowell is too talented to pass up on at this point in the draft. He’s the most talented interior pass-rusher in this class.

Baltimore now has the secondary to compete, but they still need to collapse the pocket and make plays in the backfield. McDowell is a great fit, but only if he can get the engine roaring.
