The NFL draft is just two days away, and in the gear up for the draft, ESPN aired a mock draft with its NFL Nation reporters making the picks for their respective teams on Tuesday night. ESPN’s Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley made the pick for the Ravens, and it didn’t go the way many Ravens fans had hoped it would.

Hensley took Forrest Lamp, an offensive guard from Western Kentucky with the 16th overall pick.
Hensley seems to ask for criticism in his tweet, so here it comes. This is a horrible selection.
I’m not saying its bad because of who he picked. Lamp, in my opinion, is the best offensive lineman in this draft, and he has the potential to become one of the best in the league at his position. Lamp produced incredible numbers at the combine, he ran the 40 yard dash in 5.00 seconds, had 34 reps on the bench press, posted 111.0 inch broad jump, and recorded a 7.55 second time in the three cone drill.
It’s not a terrible pick because it’s Lamp, it’s a terrible pick because of who Hensley picked Lamp over. It’s hard to see the whole board in Hensley’s photo, but the Ravens went onto the clock in the ESPN NFL Nation mock draft with both Corey Davis and Mike Williams on the board, the top two wide receivers available. That is the scenario that all Ravens fans have been dreaming of, as wide receiver, not offensive guard, is this team’s top need.
In real life, if the Ravens are on the clock come Thursday night with Davis and Williams on the clock, and Ozzie Newsome passes on both of them, there will be a massive uproar spread far and wide throughout Ravens nation.
Drafting Lamp will help the Ravens keep Joe Flacco on his feet. But no matter how long can sit back in the pocket, if Flacco doesn’t have anyone to throw to, then what’s the point?
The Ravens need to draft someone who will help this offense move the ball. In this mock draft, the board could not have fallen more perfectly, and Hensley still managed to blow it.
(Also of note: yes, the Eagles did take John Ross over Corey Davis and Mike Williams)
