Ravens showing interest in Morris Claiborne

NFL: NFC Divisional-Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens have been relatively active as free agency officially approaches, and they now await the signatures of players such as Danny Woodhead, Tony Jefferson and possibly Brandon Williams.

However, they aren't done according to Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, who is stating that the team may have interest in acquiring Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne.

This is a very intriguing development. The Ravens typically sit back and allow the free agency frenzy to play out before making any of their moves, but they seem prepared to make a serious splash at the start of this window this year.

The Jefferson signing in particular is a indication of that, and if they are indeed able to reel in Claiborne, they may be looking at a pretty complete secondary. While Claiborne is by no means the top corner on the market, he is a solid player that could give the Ravens the number 2 cornerback they are looking for.

This would allow Jimmy Smith to play the number one role, Tavon Young to make his expected shift inside, and finally give the Ravens some competent play opposite those two.

While this is indeed just a report, the Ravens have shown no qualms about signing players ahead of free agency over the past 24 hours. If Claiborne is in fact one of them, chalk it up to Ozzie Newsome changing up his style and getting a bit more aggressive than he typically is.
