Ravens to sign HB Danny Woodhead

The ultra-gritty receiving back is on his way to Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens are making a flurry of reported moves with free agency set to officially begin tomorrow, with the latest one being the signing of running back Danny Woodhead, according to NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport:

This is an interesting move that will help round out a backfield that already includes Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon. Woodhead is largely a pass catching back which may spell bad knews for near-exclusive receiver Buck Allen.

After signing as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets in 2008, Woodhead went on to make his name with the New England Patriots, helping them in their run to Super Bowl XLVI. Following his tenure in New England, he signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2013.

Since then he has been a productive player, known for his gritty, blue collar, lunch pail and hard hat type mentality. That type of player is one that Baltimore could use in the absence of Kyle Juszczyk, who struck it rich in the Bay Area earlier today, signing a long term deal with the 49ers.

If they are indeed looking to replace Juice, they could do a lot worse than someone who has the heart and determination of Woodhead.
