The Ravens are expected to re-sign quarterback Ryan Mallett according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The #Ravens are bringing back backup QB Ryan Mallett, source said. Another year in the Baltimore system.

Mallett will continue to serve as the primary back up to Joe Flacco. Mallett is a very serviceable backup, with minimal starting experience if Flacco is to suffer an injury.
Mallett came to the Ravens from the Houston Texans in 2015. Mallett was released by Houston on account of missing a flight with the team.
After going through Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen following Flacco’s 2015 knee injury, the Ravens picked up Mallett. Mallett was able to lead a very depleted Ravens roster to a thrilling victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The victory was not only valuable because it was against Pittsburgh, but it also massively hurt their chances of winning the division that year (the Bengals won the division, but lost to Pittsburgh in the first round of the playoffs).
Mallett also played very well in the 2016 preseason. Mallett was very efficient throwing the ball throughout the preseason, finishing with a high completion rate.
The signing of Mallett isn't a flashy one, but it provides important depth. Make sure to check back to Baltimore Beatdown for all of the latest Ravens free agent news.
