And now the Jets are releasing WR Brandon Marshall, per sources.

This comes as a slight surprise, as the wide receiver continues posting great numbers, regardless of the quarterback situation in New York.
The Jets didn’t ‘kick him to the curb’ in any shape; Kimberley A. Martin posts it was Marshall’s request for release. Schefter reports the team even offered an extension.
I'm told #Jets are granting Brandon Marshall's wish for his release so he can find a better fit

One source close to Brandon Marshall texted: "Really appreciate Jets for giving him the opportunity and they did offer him an extension."

The knee-jerk reaction, Marshall wants to play for a contender; a solid and stable organization, one where a team needs a wide receiver and he can be involved. Hopefully the Baltimore Ravens are on his shortlist.
The Ravens have a stable quarterback situation. Their front office is arguably the best in the league. The Ravens are in desperate need for the exact skillset of Brandon Marshall—big receiver with strong hands, capable of tough catches and a full route tree.
This is a no-brainer for the Ravens and Marshall, but money is always a driving factor. It doesn’t help the Ravens posted back-to-back 8-8 seasons. But with Brandon Marshall playing for the Ravens, they become playoff contenders.
Receivers want the ball in their hands, and Marshall is no different. The past few seasons prove the Baltimore Ravens want to air the ball out, even if it’s a little too much, but I’ve never once heard a receiver complain about too many targets. Expect the Ravens to reach out to Brandon.
