The Ravens have promoted rookie wide receiver Quincy Adeboyejo from the practice squad to the team’s active roster according to the Ravens’ official Twitter account.

This move could serve a couple of purposes for the Ravens. First, it gives the receiving corps depth if Jeremy Maclin is unable to play again on Sunday against the Bengals. Adeboyejo won’t have a featured role, but if any other receiver gets hurt during the game, the Ravens have an insurance plan.
In addition, this move comes just hours after it was announced cornerback Jaylen Hill will miss the rest of the season as he has torn his ACL and MCL. Hill saw a lot of playing time on special teams, a role that Adeboyejo was used in as well during the preseason. We could see Adeboyejo fill some of the special teams void Hill left.
Adeboyejo showed flashed in the preseason, but not enough to earn him a spot on the active roster. With injuries late in the season, Adeboyejo will get a chance to see the field, at least on special teams, in a game with huge playoff implications, and possibly earn himself a spot on the team into the playoffs, should the Ravens make it.
Taking Adeboyejo’s spot on the practice squad is cornerback Robert Nelson Jr.

Nelson was cut by the Jets earlier this month, and now comes to the Baltimore. Nelson has bounced around the NFL since he entered the league in 2014, with the Ravens being his fifth team.
