On Tuesday, the NFL announced the Pro Bowl rosters for 2017, which included three Baltimore Ravens!
- ILB C.J. Mosley(third)
- OLB Terrell Suggs (seventh)
- S Eric Weddle (fifth)
ILB C.J. Mosley – Third Pro Bowl (starter)
This is Mosley’s third Pro Bowl in four years. The Ravens primary defensive signal-caller ranks sixth in the NFL in total tackles (121). He also stuffed the stat sheet with two interceptions (one returned for a 63-yard touchdown), one sack, three forced fumbles and three recoveries, and eight tackles for loss.
“This is a great honor,” Mosley stated. “It’s always great to represent your teammates and the organization. All the blood, sweat and tears you go through during the season – it’s all worth it to make the All-Star game. I give a lot of credit to the D-line for keeping [offensive] linemen off me. I also have to thank ‘Wink’ [linebackers coach Don Martindale] for putting me in great positions, and I thank coach [John] Harbaugh and [defensive coordinator] Dean Pees. Really, it’s great to be able to share this with my teammates.”*
OLB Terrell Suggs – Seventh Pro Bowl
“Father Time? Who’s that? Does he play quarterback? Nevermind, I don’t care, I’ll tackle him anyways!” — Terrell Suggs, probably
While Hacksaw Smithers didn’t actually say the quote above, his production on the field has. Sizzle currently leads the Ravens in sacks, with 11.0. This is the eventual Hall of Famers (fight me if you disagree, or better yet Sizzle himself) seventh season registering double-digit sack totals. Terrell also posted four forced fumbles, all of them strip-sacks, and four passes defensed.
“I want to thank all the fans who voted, and I thank my coaches and teammates, as they all have a high expectation for me,” Suggs stated. “I also thank the organization for believing in a 15-year vet. I’m speechless. Every time you make it, it’s like making it for the first time all over again. It’s a really great feeling.”*
S Eric Weddle – Fifth Pro Bowl (starter)
Star safety Eric Weddle is the final Raven Pro Bowler. The Beard posted six interceptions, which ranks best among the team and ties two other players for second in the NFL. Weddle’s also notched eight passes defensed and two forced fumbles. It is clear he is one of the biggest reasons the Ravens defense stands number one in the league in both turnovers forced (33) and interceptions (22).
