Marvin Lewis was became the head coach of the Bengals in 2003, and will now leave the team after his long run as head coach. Lewis had a record of 123-111 as head coach, but was never able to win a playoff game.
There has been speculation that Lewis is on the hot seat due to struggles the team has had in recent years. It is not clear whether Lewis plans to continue coaching, or if an opportunity to coach will present itself to Lewis.
There are a lot of questions still to be answered, including whether Lewis is leaving out of frustration with ownership, he has expressed that he felt his assistants have been treated unfairly, or if he knew he was going to be fired. For now, we know that one of the longest active head coaching tenures in the NFL will come to an end after this season.
