Jeremy Maclin posted 1,000 yards seasons back in 2014 and 2015. He scored 18 touchdowns in those two years, and was a true, number one receiver. But after those outstanding seasons Maclin found himself in Kansas City with Alex Smith; the wideout only produced 536 yards and two touchdowns. After the season, Maclin was cut and eventually he signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Now, 13 games into his first season with the Ravens, Maclin only has 418 yards and three touchdowns.
Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Joe Flacco and Jeremy weren’t on the same page. Maclin received 11 targets, yet on multiple occasions he was suspected of running the wrong route by broadcasters. On 11 targets, Maclin only caught three passes, for a total of 27 yards.
The last three games have been ugly for the receiver:
24 targets | 8 catches | 74 yards
Meanwhile, another Ravens receiver is making the most of his targets:
10 targets | 9 catches | 117 yards | 1 TD
Chris Moore, a wide receiver more known for his special teams play, is outranking one of the biggest free agent targets of 2017.
This offseason, fans were in a full-blown frenzy over the stud receiver, yet now he’s floundering. Joe Flacco hasn’t been the best—certainly not at the beginning of the season—but now Joe has been one of the best players on the field in back-to-back games, it’s time for Maclin to figure out the missing component, and elevate himself, and his team, to a higher level.
