The second round of Pro Bowl updates are in and as of now, the Ravens do not have a single player amongst the AFC field. This doesn’t mean much in the long run, as the Ravens are likely to have a few players voted in as backups and Pro Bowl voting does tend to be a popularity contest.
It is unfortunate that the contributions of Justin Tucker, Jimmy Smith, Eric Weddle and C.J. Mosley seem to be flying under the radar, as all four players have played above and beyond an All-star level.
Looking around, the Ravens most deserving candidate in Smith may ultimately be the one who suffers the most. Smith faces a tough crowd in the Jaguars’ duo of cornerbacks in A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey, the Chiefs’ Marcus Peters, the Broncos’ Aqib Talib and Chris Harris and the Chargers’ Casey Hayward.

Again, Pro Bowls don’t mean nearly as much as All-Pro nods do, but it is nice for the players to get recognition for the season that they’ve compiled. As always the hope is that the Ravens are too busy preparing for the Super Bowl to participate anyway.
